Principals
Jim Wolfe
Jim Wolfe, co-founder, is a veteran management consultant with more
than 25 years experience helping grow new business ventures. An
attorney and former management executive, Jim specializes in strategic
planning and market development for emerging growth companies, both in
the U.S. and abroad. He has served as a founder or director of a number
of Washington area start-ups, and earlier served as an international
consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Touche Tomatsu, and
KPMG. His overseas experience includes assignments throughout Europe
and Central Asia, as well as East Asia and Africa. Jim also serves
as the Entrepreneur in Residence and Assistant Professor at the School
of Management, George Mason University, where he teaches new venture
development and growth management. Jim began his career in Washington,
DC as an aide the U.S. Senate. He holds the J.D., M.B.A. and B.S.
degrees, all from Indiana University
Jay Kerness
Co-founder Jay Kerness is a former advertising executive with over 20
years experience guiding more than 50 leading American brands,
including General Motors, Keebler, MCI's 1-800-COLLECT and AOL, plus
dozens of small and early stage companies. His previous agency
experience includes Leo Burnett Advertising, Arnold Communications and
Rainmaker Interactive. Jay's expertise is marketing strategy, brand
development and account management. His extensive marketing experience
including strategy, plan development, research, media, promotions,
direct, Internet, creative development, and advertising production for
television, print, radio, web and video. A published author and former
off-Broadway theater composer and producer, Jay is known for his
creative and energetic style in conducting facilitated sessions and
workshops. He received the B.A. degree in Fine Arts & Psychology
from Brandeis University, and the M.B.A. degree from Harvard
University.
Bruce Levine A partner in J Street, Bruce is an
experienced executive with twenty five years of diverse experience as a
practicing attorney; advisor to corporations, government agencies,
educational institutions and not-for-profits; and C-level executive
with start-up enterprises. Over the course of his career, he has been
associated with some of the leading firms in their respective fields,
including Skadden Arps in law and Booz Allen and Deloitte & Touche
in consulting, and has advised organizations such as Manugistics,
Goodwill Industries, the Office of the Governor of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, the U.S. Department of Energy, Johns Hopkins University,
and numerous start-ups and foundations on growing their business,
improving operations, and maximizing their opportunities. Bruce’s
expertise includes development and implementation of business growth
strategies, identifying and negotiating strategic business
relationships, organizational development and structuring, improvement
of internal and external business communications and knowledge
management. Bruce has served as a Senior Fellow in the Office of
Executive Programs of the University of Maryland School of Public
Policy, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Education at Drexel
University. Bruce holds a B.A. degree from Hamilton College, a Masters
in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and a
J.D. degree from New York University.
David Shaw
David Shaw is a consultant and business executive with broad experience
working with private sector companies seeking to raise money, expand,
or develop new product lines. Previously David was the President and
CEO of Tier 4 Partners, a nationally focused venture capital and
consulting services firm. David served as CEO of GKI, an American Stock
Exchange listed diversified manufacturing company, and the COO of
Tiburon, Inc, an internationally recognized leader in fully integrated
public safety and justice information systems, as well as the CEO, CFO,
or COO of several start-up and early stage companies. Earlier in his
career he served as Counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee. David
holds a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University and J.D. from the
Indiana University School of Law.
Consultants Tim Munson
A professional writer,
designer and photographer, Tim Munson is best known for his
interdisciplinary
and cross-cultural approach to marketing and
communications. Now an independent consultant based in Seattle,
Tim was previously the
Director of Global Marketing and Communications for Expedia, Inc.
There he
established
this travel media company's first ever global, multi-brand B2B
marketing
communications program. Earlier, with J. Walter Thompson in Tokyo,
Tim had
experience with global film, print and digital communications for
clients such
as AIG Insurance, Shiseido, Ford, Gateway Computers, Kodak and
Haagen-Dazs. Also previously he was Communications Director for
the American
Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Tim received his B.A. degree from Carlton
College, and Masters Degree with Distinction in Communications, Culture
and
Technology from Georgetown University. Excerpts of Tim's book Technologies of Sin and Salvation,
based upon his
master’s thesis research, is available online. Lane Soelberg
Lane Soelberg is a specialist in new media and alternative marketing
strategies, and currently serves as a media producer for the X
Prize Foundation. Lane began his career with Leo Burnett in Chicago.
After leading Pillsbury's foray into permission-based marketing with
Doughboy.com, he spent two years producing an award-winning feature
film while developing marketing applications for new technologies
coming out of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications in
Champaign, Illinois, birthplace of the commercial Internet. Previously Lane was Director of
Integrated Strategy for TBWA\Chiat\Day in Los Angeles. His clients
have included Ford, Mazda, Miller Brewing Co., Nokia, SwissCom, Virgin
Mobile, and Gateway Computers. He holds a
B.S. in Advertising and M.B.A. in Technology Commercialization from the
University of Illinois.
Deborah Bozsa
Deborah Bozsa is a veteran media advisor and marketing executive, with
more than 20 years experience in the advertising industry. Her previous
agency experience includes DMB&B / MediaVest, Grey Global,
MediaCom, and Rodgers Townsend LLC. She has worked with more than 50
recognized national and international brands, including Anheuser-Busch,
Campbell’s Soup, Dupont, Goldman Sachs, Hershey’s, Kraft/Nabisco,
P&G, Panasonic, and Tropicana. Debbie is founder and Manager of
Deborah Bozsa & Associates, LLC in St. Louis, MO.
Elliot Fox
Elliot Fox is a nonprofit and entertainment industry executive with
more than 15 years experience in management, production and
fundraising. He specializes in strategic leadership, financial
development and budgeting, and has special expertise in implementing
technology for both nonprofit and entertainment organizations. With a
passion for theater and the arts, Elliot has served in executive
positions for three successful Off-Broadway theaters in New York City.
